Our Board of Directors

Jan Erickson is an educational consultant for families and educational agencies. She retired as a special education administrator who served at the district, county, and state levels.  At Dominican University and Mills College, she supervises student teachers and has taught in the masters and doctoral programs at Chapman and Argosy universities.

Dr. Erickson served as a mentor to four girls from middle school through high  school.  She is a member of Rotary, Impact 100, Sonoma Valley Women’s Club, Sonoma Community Center, Sonoma Valley Art Museum, Vintage House, Sonoma Valley Unified School Districts’s Curriculum Advisory, Local Control and Accountability Plan and Special Education Advisory Committees, and St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. She previously served as a Board member of Sweetwater Spectrum, the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, the Rainbow Valley Childcare and Preschool and the Sonoma County United Way and co-founded the local Chamber of Commerce’s Business Education Roundtable.  Her education background includes a B.A. from Michigan State University, M.A.’s from San Francisco State University, and a doctorate from the University of San Francisco.

Family members include her son James Neville, wife Audrea and granddaughter Emersyn of Hillsboro Oregon, daughter Jenny Hooker, husband Will, grandsons Bryson and Liam, granddaughter Rielyn of Cameron Park.  Both James and Jenny were born and raised in Sonoma graduating from Sonoma Valley High School.

Kinh and her family of boys relocated to Sonoma in 2015 from San Francisco in search of space and community.  A native of Chicago, Kinh has been living in the Bay Area since 2007.  After graduating from the University of Chicago she worked in strategy consulting and e-commerce.  Kinh worked in mergers & acquisitions for consumer goods companies, and began international e-commerce businesses for Walmart in China, Mexico and Brazil.

In 2012, Kinh completely changed her career and life and started her own Pilates and yoga practice in San Francisco.  She now owns and teaches a private practice studio on the east side of Sonoma, KOB Pilates+Yoga Studio.  Her passion and history in dance (ballet and modern since the age of 12) and music (classically-trained clarinetist since the age of 10) has led her to the Community Center’s Board of Directors in hopes of serving Sonoma in family-friendly and world-class music and arts education.  Kinh currently serves on the Board for Crescent Montessori School and was formerly a member of the Sonoma Valley Education Fund’s Board.  When she’s not teaching you can find her trail running, playing the clarinet and piano, or cooking hearty meals for her family using wine country’s blessed bounty.

Bobbie and her husband, Pat, have been residents of Sonoma since 1999. Bobbie manages the Compliance Department for Bank of Marin, a community bank headquartered in Novato. She is also the Community Reinvestment Act and Privacy Officer for the Bank and is focused on helping the bank actively serve the communities in which it does business. She was a Bank regulator in Washington DC for many years and was thrilled to move to California in 1997.  Bobbie has been on the Sonoma Community Center Board since August 2017. Previously she was on the Sonoma Health Center Board. Bobbie loves spending time in Sonoma. She is an avid cyclist, loves yoga, book group, farmers market, making homemade wine and is eager to participate in arts programs at the Center.

A Napa native, Chay went to college in Lugano, Switzerland during which he opened a bar at 20 years of age and lived in Buenos Aires for 2 years teaching business executives English. After an 8 year career as Director of Sales for an outdoor luggage company Chay moved to Sonoma and got his first taste of working in the non-profit sector. Since 2010 Chay has been an integral part of the Sonoma International Film Festival, a non-profit organization supporting the local kids, arts and community. He oversees all food, beverage, entertainment, events and the 12,000 sqft Backlot Hospitality tent as well as contributes to sponsorship sales, marketing and social media. In his spare time he’s a chef for his own catering company Touché Mobile Chefs, works at a new luxury resort in Napa Valley to hone and sharpen his hospitality skills and MC’s for Grapes and Games (a local grape stomp event company).

Robert has been a resident of Sonoma since 1999. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and earned an MBA from

George Washington University Bob moved here following a 35 year career in Hospital Management as CEO of some of the largest health systems in the country. Bob and his partner, Mark Sipes, initially owned and operated The Inn at Cedar Mansion, a Sonoma Bed and Breakfast. In 2004 Bob took on the position as CEO of Sonoma Valley Hospital where he became intricately involved with the workings of The La Luz Center. He has been a member of the La Luz Board for 12 years serving In a number of capacities and a Board member of the Sonoma Community Center for two years. He looks forward to contributing to the needs of our community and that of Sonoma Valley.

Peter Drake has served on over 15 non-profit boards and advisory groups, most recently for the Grace Cathedral, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, and TurnOut. He owned a consulting firm serving non-profit board and staff leadership for many years, and founded the COIL Foundation. Peter attended Stanford for his BA and MBA, and had previous careers in Banking and Real Estate development. He has two adult children, and lives with his husband Jared in Sonoma, where he has maintained a home or vineyard operations for over 25 years.

Vanessa Glamore Rognlien grew up in Long Island, New York, and attended Boston College where she earned a BA in Political Science and Communication. Soon after graduation, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a stylist and production manager for corporate clients, such as Apple, Toyota, and Levi’s.

Vanessa made a career change and began her work in development with Los Angeles nonprofit organizations and schools to maximize their fundraising and marketing capabilities. Over the past 20 years, she has raised funds for numerous arts, education, and youth advocacy groups.

In 2009, Vanessa and her husband, Rand, along with their children, relocated to Sonoma. Since moving, Vanessa has devoted her time to raising funds and support for schools and youth in Sonoma, and to building Music Nomad, a music equipment care company, founded by her husband. Vanessa now oversees the company’s corporate giving program which focuses on growing partnerships with nonprofits and companies serving their communities through music and the arts.

Vanessa has served on various boards and committees, including, Sonoma Valley Education Foundation Board, the SVUSD Local Control and Accountability Board, PTO President for Prestwood, Chair of the Presentation Parent Association, and as Trustee on the Board of the Presentation School in Sonoma.

Vanessa has 3 children, 1 attending Northeastern University in Boston, 1 at Cardinal Newman, and the 3rd at Presentation School in Sonoma.

Janet comes to the board via The Trashion Fashion Show both as a submitting artist and the copywriting / production arenas.

Professionally, her work includes 17 years with Old Navy online, managing the production of imagery for all of the products sold online. Over the course of her career, she has developed and managed creative teams, created and driven budgets, produced and styled for commercial advertising, developed a line of gourmet cookies, developed and run programs  in stress management and recreation in a medical center.

As a San Francisco native, she returned to the City after attending undergraduate school at Sonoma State University.  While studying for my Masters at San Francisco State in Recreation Therapy, she developed a strong philosophy of the value of recreation in daily life.  The Sonoma Community Center embodies these beliefs.

She’s honored to bring her experience to the Sonoma Community Center to help continue the longevity of a prized organization valued by the Sonoma Community.
