SOLD OUT! You might enjoy Bees & Blooms in Watercolor to be held on July 10th in the Sonoma Community Center’s Secret Garden. It will be taught by Alina Nuebel, certified naturalist, and is open to all skill levels — beginners welcome!

Instructor:  Kelly Autumn

This class is in-person, outdoors and socially distanced.

Make art in the great outdoors at this unique, interactive workshop! Stroll with me through the beautiful terrain at Jack London State Historic Park and find inspiration from the local flora.  Along the way we will identify a variety of botanicals that we will use in the creation of stunning monoprints inspired by the natural park habitat.  Using plant materials (that I pre-gathered offsite) as stencils, I will teach you how to use a brayer to roll out water based color on a gel printing plate to make beautiful color impressions!  We will experiment and print with a variety of papers and I will also show you how to take your prints to the next level with collage, painting and illustration. You will walk away with a collection of your own original body of work to take home and display!  This is sure to be a fun and awe-inspiring class for beginners or even experienced printmakers interested in learning a beautiful new user-friendly technique that does not involve a traditional printing press.  If you’ve always wanted to try printmaking and love the great outdoors, this class is sure to motivate and inspire you!

We will break for a picnic lunch.  You can bring your own, or opt for a special, locally-made Sonoma boxed creation!

After the workshop, students are welcome to spend the day visiting the Wolf House ruins, the Pig Palace, or the House of Happy Walls Museum.

Wear walking shoes and dress for variable weather (and artmaking).  Bring sunscreen, a water bottle, and your own lunch unless choosing the boxed lunch option.

Note: $10 per vehicle entry fee to the park is not included in class fee.  Extreme weather conditions may cause this workshop to be postponed.
