Collagraph is an amazingly versatile printmaking process, based on the construction of a collaged matrix to provide a printable plate.  A wide range of materials and textured surfaces, such as fabric, leaves, sand and other found materials, can be used in the plate-making process.  Plates can be printed as intaglio, relief images, or a combination of the two, leading to prints of astounding richness and strength.  This intriguing process creates many different effects and variation in texture depending on the materials used.  The result is often unpredictable, rewarding the artist with an inspirational surprise.  No prerequisite required.
