Instructor: Kala Stein
Experience the Pot Palace from The Incorrect Museum: Vignettes from the di Rosa Collection through the eyes of ceramicist and Sonoma Community Center Director of Ceramics & Arts Kala Stein! Kala will discuss the world of contemporary ceramics, and demonstrate clay processes. Each participant can create their own unique art piece inspired by the pieces in Pot Palace or embark on a free-form exploration to see what is possible with clay.

Kala Stein is an artist and designer noted for innovative mold making and casting techniques. Her work explores dynamic systems and practices within the intersection of design, production, and craft.
Kala received her MFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and a BFA in Ceramics from SUNY New Paltz. Along with her collaborative, she received a National Endowment for the Arts Grant to explore architectural terracotta and digital fabrication at the Maryland Institute of Art in 2017.
She exhibits her work widely and works with private clients on custom designs for the home and hospitality industry. Kala has taught colleges and art centers across the country including Anderson Ranch Center for the Arts, Diablo Valley College, and Alfred University. She is the of Director of Ceramics at Sonoma Community Center, California, and oversees the public studio and artist in residence program.
