Instructor:  Robert Mahar

Location: Room 201

There’s a lot to love about this customizable Valentine’s Day project that you’ll complete in two sessions! Join artist and designer Robert Mahar as we embellish a unique anatomical heart design with embroidery, including the name or word of your choice and then transform your embroidered panel into a pillow cover for your home or gift-giving.

In the first session of this two part class you’ll learn hand embroidery basics to embellish one of Robert’s original designs with imagery sourced from 19th Century French anatomical teaching charts and botanical illustrations custom printed on linen cotton canvas. The second session will show you how to take your embroidered panel and machine sew an envelope style pillow cover backed with charming red and cream striped ticking fabric. Your finished throw pillow cover will accommodate a 16” pillow insert (not provided.)

This class is best suited for students with basic machine sewing experience. No previous hand embroidery experience is necessary. Choose to bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours! (Make your selection when registering.)
