IN-PERSON: Abstracted Landscapes in Mixed Media

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 20, 2021
1:30-4:00PM PT

Instructor:  Colleen Gianatiempo

Learn beginning abstraction of the landscape and the use of aesthetic devices such as value, color, composition, shape, and texture of the paint itself. As a painting becomes more abstract, the narrative subject becomes less obvious and the visual experience shifts increasingly toward the aesthetic devices themselves. This class will explore four different landscape scenes (ocean, snow, flowers, sky); four formats (low and high horizon, detailed foreground and middle ground); and mixed media techniques such as paint pouring, mono printing, collage and physical texturing.

All materials provided through materials fee.  No experience necessary.  Beginning artists welcome.
