Composition Crash Course

Calling all artists – realistic or not! – experienced or not! This fun and knowledge-packed workshop is designed to build your intuitive muscle and develop your eye to achieve mesmerizing compositions. You will be led through a series of drawing/painting/collage exercises that will develop your understanding of composition. This is a working class with prompts in principles of design, design contrasts, design elements and compositional formulas.  Learn an intuitive approach to create balance, unity, harmony or possibly tension. This is a workout for your head, heart and hand! You will go home with a set of compositional flashcards that you can access for years to come. Join in on a compositional challenge!

All materials are included. Note: We will take a one hour lunch break in the middle of the day.

As an artist, I live my life the same way I paint, by embracing the mystery, staying open to change, finding courage, honoring my intuition and trusting the journey.  This mindset has led me to my colorful, layered, contemporary, distinctive style.

Art has always been a part of my life paralleling my development as a person, through education, raising children and working professionally as a graphic designer.  I am honored to hold an MFA in non-figurative abstract painting from the Academy of Art in San Francisco.  With three degrees in tow, I have all the knowledge I need to operate my fine art practice and teach and inspire students from around the globe.  I now live and work in St. George, Utah.
