Learn Machine Sewing in a Day

Location: Room 201

Spend one day learning the very basics of machine sewing. After practicing sewing straight, threading, bobbins, seam allowance, tension, problem solving and all else basic, you’ll be ready to tackle your first project – a tote bag. All materials are provided, along with use of one of the studio’s sewing machines. You’re welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you’d like.

Pia Andersson

Instructor

Pia Andersson’s educational background is in textile arts with a degree from University of Gothenburg, Sweden, where she grew up and lived until her late twenties. She was the founder and CEO of Mimi the Sardine from 1990 until she retired in 2014, so most of her professional life was spent in design and textile product development in the SF Bay Area. (In addition to her own line of children’s accessories, Pia designed and produced children’s clothing for Hanna Anderson and Garnet Hill). In 2015, Pia started the Marin Sewing Lab where she teaches garment construction and embroidery techniques.
