10:00AM-12:00PM PT / 1:00-3:00PM ET
Instructor: Lynn Wood
In this virtual workshop, using Zoom video conferencing, Lynn will demonstrate a number of surface treatment techniques, which is a focus and specialty in her personal work. Emphasis will be on slip trailing and using commercial and personal newspaper transfers and printing with the “queens” texture mats. Additionally a number of monoprinting techniques will be demonstrated. The use of color will be with underglazes and colored slips (including tips on working with mason stains.) Come on along to add color and design to make the surface matter in your clay work.
The demonstration will last for approximately 1.75 hours, after which there will be some time reserved for more in-depth, live Q&A. All workshops will be hosted by the Sonoma Ceramics staff; participants will be encouraged to ask questions using the chat forum in Zoom, and the host will communicate these questions to the instructor during her demo.
Many participants choose to observe the virtual workshop and work later, but you may also work alongside the instructor during the demo. All students will receive the Zoom recording of the workshop to watch at their convenience for two weeks after the workshop.
Participants must pre-register for the workshop Zoom access & tool list. Once you register, the links will be in your confirmation email.
Lynn Wood IS the Pottery Texture Queen. She is inspired by textures found in nature, architecture, and textiles and brings this joy into her work through pattern, texture, and color. Lynn has developed her own patterned texture mats that can be used on hand-built and thrown pottery in a variety of ways and they are available for sale at Sonoma Community Center. Lynn lives in Santa Rosa, shows and teaches nationally, and, of course teaches at Sonoma Ceramics.
