"MISS CALAVERA" Free Gallery Opening Reception @ Sonoma Community Center, Gallery 212

GALLERY 212 Free Opening Reception: Thursday, Oct 7th from 5:30 – 7:30pm

(Artist Talk at 6pm)

Día de los Muertos returns to the Center with the art of Fabian Marquez.

“Miss Calavera” features Sonoma Community Center newcomer Marquez, a multi-disciplinary and tattoo artist from Mexico City whose work has been seen in Oakland and throughout the Bay Area. The public is invited to join the free Opening Reception and Artist Talk where Marquez will reveal his personal journey through art and the power behind the Día de los Muertos Holiday.  Attendees will also have the chance to watch Marquez create new art through a live experience during the event!

“This is a powerful and important holiday… the best holiday of the year,“ Marquez explained. “It is our chance to have access to spirits in the other world and it is very important to show respect.”

Free & open to the public, all ages welcome. All artwork is for sale and a portion of the sale benefits art programming at the Center.  The Gallery 212 exhibit will run through November 1st and will conclude with the Center’s Public Altar Lighting Ceremony.  To learn more about the Día de los Muertos at the Center Events, click HERE.
