Instructor: Maxwell Mustardo, Artist in Residence
This virtual zoom course aims to introduce, explore, and expand upon pottery making techniques to create & execute both functional and sculptural vessel designs. Max will demonstrate his processes including coil-building, wheel-throwing, & glazing. Exploration of individual ideas and styles will be encouraged as participants primarily work outside of this class time. Creative approaches to altering & surfacing forms will be used to push these simple processes further.
This class is open to all ages and skill levels, great for intro level as well as intermediate students interested in revisiting & reinforcing their knowledge through demonstration-based learning. Max will demonstrate for about the first 1.5 hours of the class with the remained of the time dedicated to student discussion, Q&A, show & tell, etc.
THIS COURSE INCLUDES A BONUS CLASS: VIRTUAL: GLAZE CHEMISTRY On Friday, JUNE 26, 3PM-5PM PST. Discussions about glaze formulation, glaze development & application techniques will be addressed.
