JUNE 16, 2020. 3:30-5:30 pm PST / 6:30-8:30 EST
Instructor: Naomi Clement
In this virtual workshop, Naomi will demonstrate how she hand-builds mugs from textured slabs of clay. Special attention will be paid on how to refine rims and add feet, creating texture using various tools, and adding volume to forms. There will also be an in-depth demonstration of how Naomi creates and attaches her handles. Additionally, Naomi will show participants several different ways that you can differentiate your handles, to make your pots stand out!
Note: the mug-making portion of this workshop will be demonstration based, as these forms are constructed over several days, with different parts. If you would like to work alongside Naomi, the handle portion of the workshop will be the best time to do so.
Naomi will demonstrate outlined techniques for approximately 1 ½ hours, after which there will be a half hour for more in-depth, live Q&A. All workshops will be hosted by the Sonoma Ceramics staff; participants will be encouraged to ask questions using the chat forum in Zoom, and the host will communicate these questions to Naomi during her demo.
Participants will receive the Zoom recording of the workshop 24 hours after the workshop to watch at their convenience for two weeks after the workshop.
Participants must pre-register for the workshop to get the Zoom link & tool list. Once you register, the links will be in your confirmation email.
