The BARN at Tyge Williams Cellars at Cornerstone near the town of Sonoma is the venue for a gala evening to raise funds for the Sonoma Plein Air Foundation. A highlight of the evening will be the selection of the Artist’s Choice Award painting. Each artist brings the painting she or he believes is their finest work of the week to be voted on by their peers.
All the paintings are then placed into a silent auction. Tickets for the GALA available at www.sonomapleinair.com
Award-winning artists from across the country arrive in Sonoma County in early September for a week of painting “en plein air” and raising funds to support art education for youth in the Sonoma Valley. Since it began in 2002, the Sonoma Plein Air Foundation has raised nearly $1.5 million dollars and is the primary non-profit to support art education in public schools, as well as hands-on youth programs at Art Escape, the Sonoma Community Center, the Arts Guild and the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art.
The week begins with 36 artists heading into the vineyards and the fields of Sonoma and Napa, out to the Pacific Coast and down as far as San Francisco to paint. During the week, the public will have an opportunity to watch the artists paint at a QUICK DRAW event and during demonstrations at the ART SHOW and SALE.
