VIRTUAL: Poinsettia Ribbon Flower Making

THURSDAY 3:30-5:30PM
DECEMBER 3, 2020

Instructor:  Jessica Jones

We will learn to make a beautiful ribbon poinsettia flower and leaf using grosgrain ribbon. This is a hand sewn flower where we will sew each petal, leaf and center (or you can choose a center from jewelry, buttons, anything that will make your flower unique!) and then tack each piece to crinoline, trim, sew a piece of felt to the back and voila! Your flower can be pinned on a hat, fascinator, coat lapel, or adorn a holiday gift for that special someone.

This flower can be made from wire ribbon as well but we will concentrate on grosgrain for this class.  Lots of tips and tricks so come start the holiday season in style!  Some hand sewing experience will help.

Jessica has been making hats for over 10 years, both felt and straw for anyone who loves wearing hats. All hats are hand blocked using traditional millinery techniques and each is a unique one-of-a-kind peice of art for the head! She loves the art of hand-made ribbon or fabric flowers so each head peice with flowers or ribbon work are all hand sewn and designed by her. A believer in repurposing unused textiles, she loves to find odd buttons, pins, brooches, old jewelry or anything with character to adorn the flower center and any fabrics peices, ribbons or any textile with fun texture is a find!
