Instructor Bio –
Janis Jennings Snyder brings many years of experience in all aspects of art and design including 16 years as a professional muralist, 20 years as a graphic designer and over 10 years as an interior designer. In addition, Janis was an actor in San Francisco and Los Angeles, both on stage and television. She has also worked as a set and costume designer.
In 2012, Janis merged several of her talents to open Bella Vita Sonoma, a popular women’s clothing boutique on the Sonoma Plaza. Her love for vintage with a desire for quality required Janis to carefully curate a special collection.
Janis first got involved in designing clothing at an early age, and as a native Southern Californian, used to make treks to Pasadena’s Rose Bowl swap meet to buy vintage clothing she would then rework into her own design. As such, she created her own style (inspired by vintage) when she was still in high school.
Janis began working with Transcendence Theatre Company in 2015 to curate cohesive looks for that season. The 2015 holiday show tapped into her creative capacity further to design and make a few costumes in addition to curating. In 2016 Janis was the Costume Designer for all of TTC’s 6 shows and as a result, Janis won Broadway World, Best Costume Design (Local) for Dance the Night Away – Broadway Under the Stars.
