You always wanted to and now you have the chance. Come make a container with rush warps and tule wefts, using California Indian techniques. You will practice various twining stitches to make a patterned exterior, finish with a decorative rim, and perhaps a cordage handle. Tule baskets were very commonly made in many parts of California, Oregon and Nevada, with varying “starts”, weaves and rim finishes.
If possible, students should bring a water bowl, large scissors, and a lunch.
