VIRTUAL: Wet Felting Boho Blossoms, Beads & Bracelets

TUESDAY 1:00-3:00PM PT / 4:00-6:00PM ET
SEPTEMBER 29, 2020

Instructor:  Yoyo Koch, M.A.

This workshop is a fun & easy introduction to wet felting. Using water, soap, wool & the power of your hands learn to make beautifully colorful boho blossoms & matching beads. We’ll begin by making large  beads so you can feel how the wool binds together as you roll it between your hands. You will learn how to separate & fold your wool into a ball before dipping it in water. This gives you a sense of how much pressure, rolling, soap & water you need when wet felting.

The 2nd project will be your boho blossom! Using 3 different colors you will learn how to pull & layer your wool on bubble wrap. . Once your wool is layered we will cover techniques used to wet felt, adding soapy water & hand agitating the wool to create a dynamic flower. Your Boho Blossom can be displayed on its own, used as an accessory/ embellishment or to create a bouquet.

Finally you’ll learn how to make versatile rope bracelets that can also be used as wrap around necklaces or vines for beautiful blossoms. As jewelry these ropes can be embellished with your beads & other fun trinkets for a one of a kind statement piece. If you make ropes as vines you can attach your beads & blossoms creating a unique way to display and show off your art!

Once  you’ve learned how to make these blossoms, beads & bracelets you’ll be ready to conquer more advanced projects. This introduction to wet felling is a great way to learn the process without any rolling required! Well…just a TINY bit of rolling, but very quick without a foam roller!
