Class Description

This session is for those who already know how to center and throw pieces successfully! A continuation of our all levels course, this intermediate level course will help you hone your throwing skills through more complex demos, and nuanced approaches to technical throwing. Expand your fundamentals and begin to develop your own voice in this 8 week course with Ben. In addition to throwing, surface decoration techniques will be explored as well as the opportunity to experiment with different clay bodies.  Sonoma Ceramics is excited to roll out new sliding scale, accessible pricing for our classes. With this new payment option, materials for the course are now included in the price of the class. Course price includes a single 25 lb. bag of clay, and glazing and firing for said clay. Additional bags of clay can be purchased through the studio and/or office.

With your 8-week class registration, students receive the opportunity to purchase a studio pass for ½ off during the duration of their class.

Sliding Scale Guidance

When you register for a class, you’ll be offered three price tiers. The middle tier comes closest to what our registration fees used to be, and covers about 50% of the full cost of your participation in the class – with the other 50% covered by community donations. The first tier creates accessibility for people with limited income, while the third tier covers the full cost of participation – so that we can use community donations to support other people’s registration costs. When you choose to register at the third tier, you directly help support the Center’s efforts to remove financial barriers for others.

The Sonoma Community Center (the Center) strives to create an inclusive, safe community where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
