Give scrap paper a new life through a clever DIY paper making technique! Join artist and maker Robert Mahar in learning a simple and accessible process of creating decorative sheets of paper from the recycle bin. Instruction will cover assembling a paper screen and deckle from readymade materials, creating pulp from recycled scrap paper and forming new, small scale sheets of handmade paper that can be utilized for decor, stationery and paper crafting. Students will also have the opportunity to explore additives to add color and texture – and even seeds to create plantable paper.

All materials (readymade frames, fiberglass screening, recycled paper and pulp additives) along with shared tools (blender, sponges, felt mats) are provided and included in the cost of the class. Students are encouraged to wear clothing that can potentially get wet. Protective cloth aprons will also be available.
