Throw Double Walled Forms
SUNDAY January 15th & January 22nd
10:00AM – 1:00PM
Instructor: Ben Betourne
Location: RM 117
Intermediate Level Workshop
Level up your throwing skills in this two day workshop with Ben Betourne on throwing Double Walled Forms; a particular technique that allows the maker to trap air in between layers of clay while throwing forms. This intermediate-advanced skill creates signature bulbous forms and can be utilized in many ways like cutting into the outer layer to reveal the inner form for an intricate, lighter look.
First session will focus on demos and skill development from Ben Betourne with one on one guidance as you practice the new technique. The second session will focus on specific trimming techniques utilizing the pieces thrown the week prior and, if time, more practice throwing at the wheel.
This class is designed for folks who may already have an open studio pass and can come back to finish their work and glaze. If you do not have an open studio pass, reach out to a ceramics team member and ask about our drop-in day pass!
