About the class

Curious about creating a Trashion Fashion runway outfit or an upcycled Trashion Barbie and don’t know where to start? We offer free open design studios where you can find your Trashion community, work and collaborate as well as demonstrations with hands on advice from past Trashion designers. Come and have access to space, tools, supplies and recycled materials or BYOT (Bring your own Trash!) creature.

Trashion Design Studio #1 featuring Spencer Morton, is the first open design studio and designer demo. They will share a brief overview of Trashion, exploring examples of garments and types of trashion, playing with materials and sharing hot tips for working with different materials, as well as beginning the research and design process. Spencer Morton has worn many Trashion hats from social media manager, an artist in residence, and becoming a mentor, teacher, and key member of the trashion council. They turn trash into trashion, crap into couture, and garbage into glamour!
Find your Trashion community, work and collaborate.

Come to one open studio or come to all three!
Limited Space – RSVPing is recommended.
Trashion Open Studios are supported by a grant provided by Creative Sonoma

Spencer Morton

Monitor / Artist

G Spencer Morton is a dedicated individual who is passionate about living an extravagant life in the arts, from globe-trotting to trashion fashion shows. They spent five years living in London and Manchester, U.K., where they graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Promotion from Manchester Metropolitan University. During their stay in the U.K., Spencer worked for various fashion names, including Paul Smith and Philip Treacy.

After exploring their passion for fashion illustration and working in art galleries, Spencer decided to fully devote their life to fashion and living fabulously. So far, they have been successful in this endeavor. After returning to Sonoma County, Spencer has made the annual Sonoma Trashion Fashion Show the centerpiece of their year. They host trashion classes, hold a year-long trashion artist residency at the SCC, and occasionally steal the show, making them the resident Trashion Icon, without whom Trashion Fashion would not be the same.
