THURSDAY & FRIDAY 10:00AM-4:00PM
NOV 8 & 9, 2018

Instructor:  Heather Wilcoxon

This first day we will be using Aqua Water based inks, which are easy to clean up and fun to use in monoprinting.  We will be painting on plexiglass plates, using brayers, and brushes, which will be transferred through the press onto your paper. In the first hour, we will introduce ourselves to each other.  I will go through the rules using the etching presses, as well as ripping paper and wetting paper, how to use the inks and other information that I feel is important. Next I will do several demos on the printing process and answer any questions. After all that introduction the fun will start. Make as many prints as you want. The first few we will use one color only just to get used to the process. Throughout the day I will do several more demos and talk about what you will be doing on the second day.

The second day will incorporate Photo Transfers using Gum Arabic and oil based inks. Basically, we will be transferring images on top of some of your prints done the day before. I will demonstrate this process several times as well as work with you individually. We will be using black and white Xerox images with Gum Arabic and oil based inks. I will supply the xerox images. Or if you want to bring your own images from drawings OR photos you can. The images must be high contrast with no grays as well as not from your computer. They must be Xerox images from toner machines.

This is a magical process that I have used in my own work. You will love it!

Materials needs: Students must bring at least 8 sheets of BFK Reeves printing paper
