In this afternoon workshop you will follow a step-by-step process to achieve a faux stone look on a 6 x 11” serving tray (provided).
Basic faux painting techniques will be covered as well as the use of underglazes with brushes and sponges. No previous clay skills needed and all materials will be provided. The workshop will culminate in glazing your bisque piece with clear glaze for final firing.

Kate’s interest in faux painting stems from her travels throughout Europe, espcially Italy and the craft of faux painting and trompe l’oeil in ancient pottery up through contemporary ceramics. Kate Murphy has been working with clay for 50 years (!) and lives and creates in Sonoma. She is a life-long supporter of the Sonoma Ceramics program.
