This Fearless Mixed Media Workshop incorporates collage, plaster & paint scrapers to create distressed surface textures. Join professional artist Samantha daSilva as she shares her unique method of painting: rollers rather than brushes, tables instead of easels, lots of paint and water, canvas manipulation and plaster, salt, sand and wood shavings to create ethereal textured abstracts. In addition, heart-centered discussions will be offered to assist you to let go of fear, silence the inner critic, turn up your intuition & explore your own artistic style in a safe, supportive environment including: 5 Questions to Help You Paint Your Truth, Compassionate Critiques, How to tell your painting is finished, and so much more! No previous experience necessary.
Workshop to include the following topics: Why is there so much fear in art; Philosophy; Why & How to Tone Your Canvas; Texture Building & Making Your Own Mediums: Gel Medium, Modeling Paste & Plaster; Collage as Texture; Distressing the Canvas Surface, Antiquing Techniques using Color & Tools; Translucent Layering; and Varnishing Like a Pro.

Beneath Samantha’s amiable personality burns a fervent fire to express life through art and dialogue. Samantha daSilva is an artist and art teacher, living and working in Salt Lake City, UT. Since 2008, daSilva’s work has been exhibited in over 100 group and solo exhibitions including GHTV’s Love It of List It! Vancouver, a collaboration with Schoolhouse in Portland, OR, and a cover feature in Dote Magazine. As an educator daSilva has instructed at various public and private institutions across the United States and Canada.
