Illustrator is the industry-standard vector graphics application that helps you create digital artwork in today’s world. This includes logos, icons, sketches, typography and complex illustrations for print, web, interactive, video and mobile. In this beginner’s workshop, we’ll cover the basics of working in Illustrator such as; understanding paths, creating shapes, creating and using artboards, working with type, and working with those tools to create a simple project. You will gain a basic working knowledge of Illustrator.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:
- Understand the Illustrator interface and tools.
- How to work with vectors.
- Create, manipulate and transform shapes.
- Work with the type tool.
- Recognize the similarities in Adobe CC interfaces and tools.

Melissa Stone has extensive experience in all areas of graphic design; marketing communications, print design, digital production, web site design, corporate design, branding, identity systems, digital illustration and graphic design education. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design and Photography from the California College of the Arts, Oakland, CA and an MFA from the Media Design Program at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California.
