This class is designed for students with little or no previous guitar experience. Students will receive guidance and direction in solving problems related to playing the guitar at a beginning level and will learn many of the different styles, skills and techniques required to become a successful guitarist. Areas of concentration include: correct posture, flat-picking, finger-picking, rhythmic patterns, chord study, musical forms, improvisation and performing experiences.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Finger-picking technique
  • Flat-picking technique
  • Reading basic chord charts
  • Learn how to read guitar tablature
  • Basic strum patterns

The goal of the class is to give students who are new to the instrument a basic introduction that is educational and fun in a zero pressure environment.  The group environment gives the student the opportunity to interact constructively with other students at a similar skill level while learning from a professional instructor.
