Instructor: Kelly Autumn
Location: Room 208
In this hands-on introduction to linocut printing, you will learn how to take a pattern, a simple sketch or a photo and translate this image into a linoleum block using an easy transfer method and a basic carving tool to create your first series of hand-pulled prints. Linocut is a type of relief printing method similar to woodblock — learn the basics in just one day! An image is carved into a linoleum block and what is left of the block is inked and printed. This is the perfect beginner’s class for artists who are curious about printmaking. We will focus on printing by hand as well as the results that can be achieved by using the press. You will gain an understanding of this fun and creative medium and leave with a stack of your very own editioned linocut prints!
