Open to all levels, this course will cover basic and advanced hand building techniques focusing on vessel making. Students will learn soft slab construction, coil and pinch, rigid slab construction, extruded forms, slip decorating techniques, glazing, and more. Those with experience will be challenged with more elaborate versions of the projects.
With your 8 week class registration, students receive 8 complimentary drop in days to work on class projects for the duration of the class.
$30 materials fee due at registration covers your first bag of clay, firing, and glazes. Additional clay may be purchased as necessary.
Scott is an active studio potter from San Francisco, specializing in handbuilt tableware, and works out of Red Brick studio in the Mission district. Scott has been teaching wheel throwing and handbuilding for 13 years at community centers and colleges. His industry experience includes working for 4 years at Heath Ceramics as the dinnerware production manager.
