Open to those who already know how to center, this ‘next level’ class will build your pottery and vessel making skills enabling you to find your unique voice in clay! Take your wheel work to the next level with this comprehensive class specializing in surface & building.
Demonstrations and projects will include focuses on compound forms, handles, feet; as well as surface design including under and overglazing, resist, slip, mishima, sgraffito.
With your 8 week class registration, students receive 8 complimentary drop in days to work on class projects for the duration of the class.
$30 materials fee due at registration covers your first bag of clay, firing, and glazes. Additional clay may be purchased as necessary.
Claire Thibodeau was recently the Sonoma Ceramics Artist in Residence at the Sonoma Community Center. She received her BFA from Alfred University with a concentration in Ceramics in 2015. Her work has been exhibited at The Society for Contemporary Craft, Clay Penn, Taos Clay Studio, and Objective Clay. Claire has participated in internship opportunities at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Haystack Mountain School of Craft. In 2015, she became an Artist in Resident and Studio Coordinator at Union Project in Pittsburgh, PA. Originally from Massachusetts, she lives in Petaluma, CA and teaches at the Sonoma Community Center.
