First-timers welcome!

Develop and improve your throwing skills while exploring a range of forms through multiple class projects in this all-level throwing class. The instructor guides you through the basic steps of throwing, shaping, and trimming of pottery on the wheel. This class is a great opportunity for students to hone basic techniques of throwing on the wheel and expand skills in all aspects of pottery.

Surface decoration techniques will also be explored.

Barbara Obata. Born and raised in California, educated in Annapolis, Santa Fe, the streets of Flint Michigan, Greenwich Village, D.C., and the Bay Area. Traveled through many of the 50 states for shorter and longer times.

Desired occupation as a child: hobo, intermediate occupation: tech work, now: Humanities and Art instructor.

I started out with the pencil as a satisfying transport for rolling around on the rind of the world. Then I found like pencils, clay is available to anyone, anywhere in the world, to express anything!

In recent years, I’ve extended the use of these mediums into instruction, storytelling and other collaborations.
