Participants will develop and improve throwing skills while learning options for surface design, handles, pour spouts, and trimming. Joanne will demo a new technique each day including how to make a pour-over set, measuring for consistent multiples, and handles. She will work with each individual to help them propel their work forward.
Participants must be able to center clay and throw basic shapes.
With your 8 week class registration, students receive 8 complimentary drop in days to work on class projects for the duration of the class.
$30 materials fee due at registration covers your first bag of clay, firing, and glazes. Additional clay may be purchased as necessary.
Seong Weon Lee
Past Artist in Residence
Seong Weon Lee recently received MFA in Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Ceramics and recently completed 6 months as the resident artist at Sonoma Ceramics, Sonoma Community Center. Originally from South Korea, Seong Weon received her BFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University with a concentration in Ceramics. After graduation, she moved back to South Korea for Artist in Residence program at Korea Ceramic Foundation: Icheon Cerapia, where she achieved 3rd place at Gyeonggi International Ceramics Biennale (known as as Moondobang) as the youngest artist in 2011.
