SEP 29, 2019
Instructor: Paula Bailey
We will use visible mending techniques to transform a tear into a handmade touch of art. Bring a sweater or your jeans or…whatever garment you have that deserves a new life. Hand mending is an improvisational ad meditative art form. Boro and Sashiko stitching are well suited to our current cultural ideals of reducing waste, making do, and doing your part to prevent the massive amounts of fabric going to landfill.
Students are asked to bring a garment or two to be mended, needles with a large eye and yarn if you are mending a sweater. The instructor will have class materials available for purchase- Perle cotton, sashiko cotton, embroidery floss, needles, and denim patches.
