Build an interactive coffin that is a traditional Mexican Day of the Dead toy. We’ll use recycled materials, clay, string and decorative paper to create a coffin with a head that pops up when you pull the string.
This workshop is the 4th in a series of 5 cultural artistic workshops leading up “DIA SONOMA” Sonoma’s city-wide celebration of Dia de los Muertos Saturday, November 2nd from 12:00 – 6:30pm. Sign up for all 5!

Kate Ortolano & Elizabeth Feroze
- Kate Ortolano has been teaching adults and children, since 1985. Her approach is based in the work of Alfred Adler. While teaching Positive Discipline nationally, she would be creating with paper, fiber and color. Kate later completed the certificate program at San Francisco Center for the Book in bookbinding. She continues to study, practice art daily and teach book arts and related mediums.
- Elizabeth Feroze graduated from Tulane University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting & Printmaking. Since then she has worked as the Arts Program Coordinator for Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley, a teaching artist for SVMA, an English and Art teacher in Thailand, and an instructor and program support for Art Escape. Elizabeth has a passion for traveling, and teaching art to students through a colorful and multicultural lens.
