About the class

Developed to build attention and self-expression, activities include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening, musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement, and storytelling. These bilingual, weekly classes are action-filled for children—full of energy, often on the move, always exploring and learning—and their parents.

Each lesson features movement activities for coordination, body awareness and control, exploration of space, and instruments such as rhythm sticks, jingles, rattles, drums, and resonator bars.  Sing, move and play all while increasing your baby’s capacity for learning and language skills.

When you register for a class, you’ll be offered three price tiers. The middle tier comes closest to what our registration fees used to be, and covers about 50% of the full cost of your participation in the class – with the other 50% covered by community donations. The first tier creates accessibility for people with limited income, while the third tier covers the full cost of participation – so that we can use community donations to support other people’s registration costs. When you choose to register at the third tier, you directly help support the Center’s efforts to remove financial barriers for others.

The Sonoma Community Center (the Center) strives to create an inclusive, safe community where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The Center is committed to creating such an environment because it brings out the fullest potential in each of us, which, in turn, contributes directly to creating a community of belonging. In order to ensure a positive, safe, and welcoming experience for everyone, all program participants are asked to abide by the following policies, community agreements, and restorative safety protocol.

About the instructor

Persy Kreider

Instructor

Persy was born and raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an associate degree in Montessori Early Childhood Education. Beginning as a Montessori teacher, Persy’s journey led her to become the Director of Crescent Montessori in 2021.
Growing up, music was a constant presence in Persy’s home. Her father, a guitar-playing singer, instilled her a love for music from a young age. Persy’s enthusiasm for music led her to pursue Musikgarten training at the University of Miami.
Her classes will be a fusion of songs, engaging movement activities, instrument exploration, and imaginative narratives that encourage children’s creativity.
In her downtime, Persy finds solace in nature, often taking walks with her two daughters”
