This Fall, legendary Bay Area artist and printmaker, Art Hazelwood, created a special multi-color linoleum print in honor of the Sonoma Community Center and our 2023 celebrated Muses, Simon and Kimberly Blattner. The Muse gala is the Center’s signature annual fundraising event. Each year SCC honors someone who has made a significant impact in our community. The poster was commissioned by the Blattners who were recently honored on October 7, 2023 at the Muse gala.
Printed live in studio by Art Hazelwood on September 9, 2023 during a free, community printmaking demonstration, there are only 20 unique editions made of this hand-carved block print. You can now own a piece of original art before they sell out! The sales benefit the Sonoma Community Center and our efforts to make unique programming, like printmaking, available to the public.
More about Art Hazelwood — A printmaker, painter, muralist, impresario, educator, independent curator, and political activist. There is an archive of over 300 of his works and artist books at University of California Santa Cruz Special Collections. Hazelwood has taught at the San Francisco Art Institute, and co-founded the notorious San Francisco Poster Syndicate and the Great Tortilla Conspiracy. Also a published author, Hazelwood has contributed to four books, including the recently published “Mission Gráfica, Reflecting a Community in Print.”
