An Intimate Concert in the Center’s Secret Garden
Desirae Garcia returns to Sonoma with two new bands.
Sonoma, California. The Sonoma Community Center will host an intimate concert in their Secret Garden on Friday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m. Coyote Girls and Desert Hollow will make a stop in Sonoma on their West Coast tour, which will culminate in The Good Luck Camp Out Mountain Music Festival the weekend of September 24-27 in Mi-Wuk Village, California.
Desirae Garcia, a member of both bands, relocated to her husband’s hometown of Sonoma Valley after the deadly Lahaina wildfires in 2023. Also a very talented potter, she was at the Center most days and became a working member of the Sonoma Ceramics team. Garcia’s family has since returned to Maui, where she connected with local musicians.
“I’ve been playing with Desert Hollow for over a year now,” said Garcia. The band includes Maui-based traveling folk duo Xander Hitzig and Nicole Olney, along with Lukas Nelson.
Garcia is known for her soulful melodies and eclectic inspirations. In March 2024, she performed at the Center’s Andrews Hall for the release of her debut solo album, “Lengthy Sunny Spells.”
“I miss Sonoma with a bursting heart, so I am excited to come and see the people that shaped the place for me,” Garcia continued. “Singing songs for them seems like the most real communication of my love, so it’s a perfect way to visit.”
The ladies of Desert Hollow also perform together as a duo, Coyote Girls. Garcia and Olney will do a set together of their haunting harmonies ahead of the full band, which boasts rootsy rhythms and a touch of cosmic twang.
The group will begin their limited tour in Chico on September 17. On Friday, September 18, they will perform in the Secret Garden at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $25, and the show is all ages. Desert Hollow will continue to Nevada City on the 19th and Bishop on the 23rd. The tour ends with performances at the Good Luck Camp Out Mountain Music Festival.
