Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner
An all-volunteer production, over 500 meals to be served at the Sonoma Vet’s Hall
Sonoma, California. Sonoma Community Center will once again host the Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 27, at the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Hall. Doors will open at 3:00 p.m. and food will be served until it runs out. This event is produced in partnership with Sonoma’s Rotary Clubs. There is no cost to attend, but donations are gratefully accepted to help offset the cost of producing the event.
Each year, an all-volunteer team spends days preparing more than 500 meals for residents of Sonoma Valley and the surrounding areas. What began as a simple act of service has grown into a beloved community tradition, one that brings together people from all walks of life to share in the spirit of generosity, connection, and good food.
This is a sit-down dinner with all of the fixings. The meal is made using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. Rotarian and volunteer Gary Edwards, with his co-chef Rob Larman, lead the kitchen operations leading up to Thanksgiving. Local groups, including Bright Event Rentals, Paul’s Produce, Joanne Romanini Distributing, Pacific Gas & Electric, and Vintage House, have donated ingredients and supplies, while the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley and Sonoma Market will provide the turkeys again this year.
“It’s truly a joy watching the whole of Sonoma come out to prepare, serve, and enjoy a Thanksgiving feast together as a community,” said Josh Cutler, Director of Operations and Finance for the Center. “And we’re thrilled to continue this wonderful holiday tradition for another year.”
The free Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, at the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Hall, 126 First Street West. Doors open at 3:00 p.m. and food will be available on a first-come, first-served served basis. No outside food or beverage is allowed at the event. The community is invited to attend.
