Chili Bowl 2024

Come one, Come all, to this year’s Chili Bowl on February 24th, 2024

Every February, the annual Chili Bowl celebrates community, food, and clay. Featuring artisan bowls made by the Center’s ceramics team and a variety of hot, steaming chilis prepared by local chefs, the Chili Bowl brings our community together to create a sense of warmth during the rainy tail-end of winter.

Your lunch ticket includes a beautiful handmade bowl of your choosing with a hearty chili of choice, as well as toppings, cornbread, and dessert in Gallery 212

Dinner tickets include all of the above + a handmade cup and cocktail/mocktail along with some special entertainment and auction items.

Chili Bowl Volunteer Sign Ups

Sponsor 2024 Chili Bowl – Sonoma Community Center’s beloved community event. Your sponsorship helps support the Center by underwriting the event and comes with special benefits that make your Chili Bowl experience even more memorable. Along with your one-of-a-kind keepsake chili bowl you will receive a handmade vase, a ceramic cheese board and table side beverage and food service. Most importantly, your support allows the Center to offer engaging, accessible, high-quality art and cultural experiences that benefit our Sonoma Valley community.

Sponsorships range from $500 to $5,000 and are fully customizable, just let Mary Catherine know what works for you. More information on sponsorship levels and benefits are below.

BOWL A THONS

Help us make over 600 bowls and 200 cups for Chili Bowl 2024!

Bowl-a-thons occur Monday-Saturday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM January 8th-Jan26th (except Jan 15 MLK Day) in the RM 117. They are free and open to the public, however you must have previous ceramics experience.

  • We offer free reclaim and leftover clay to make chili bowls (located underneath the Chili Bowl in progress shelf).
  • We recommend using 1-2 pounds of clay for a good sized chili bowl.
  • ALWAYS mark CBX on the bottom of your chili bowl so we know what it’s for.
  • PLEASE place your in progress chili bowl on the designated shelf for storage and make sure you know if your clay is Cone 5 or Cone 10 before working with it!
  • Don’t hesitate to ask a monitor or team member if you have any questions.
  • ALWAYS clean up after yourself – a clean studio makes a happy bowl!

● 1 metric ton of clay (mixed in-house)
● 40 gallons of glaze (hand mixed)
● 50 kiln loads of bowls, vases and cups to produce the ceramics for Chili Bowl.
