About the class

We will begin with an introduction to the world of watercolor, exploring the basic materials: paper types, brushes, paints, and palettes. You will learn the differences between “wet-on-wet” and “wet-on-dry” techniques, and how to create a color wheel to better understand color combinations and harmonies.

We will also experiment with textures using salt, plastic wrap, and dry brush techniques to add unique effects to your artwork. Additionally, we will explore basic composition principles such as the rule of thirds and focal points to enhance the visual impact of your paintings. You will learn how to layer to create depth in your work, a key skill to develop your artistic style.

About the instructor

Monica Ramirez

Instructor / Artist
