About the class

The class is designed as a young child’s first independent movement class. Instruction will include warm-ups exercises, basic elements of dance and ballet positions, across the floor movement, and a creative dance through the use of stories,props and games. Age appropriate songs and dance forms from around the world are also incorporated into this class. Benefits include listening skills and concentration, increased coordination, and an understanding of movement, i.e. time, space, directions and balance, social skills and development of creativity.

This session is not only for instruction but includes a sweet, free recital on Saturday, November 23rd for the entire family to enjoy. All teachers and Community Center staff will be helping to curate and support a wonderful experience for dancers of all ages. Note that wrapped into the session cost is a $50 costume fee in which the student takes home after the November 23rd recital. No rental fee options at this time but a lifetime of memories and endless wears for their 2024 experience!

Being dressed and ready for class is part of the experience and encourages focus and participation.

Creative Movement & Dance Dress Code: Dance clothes of any color. Comfortable clothing such as leggings and sweats or dancewear such as leotards, skirts, skirted leotards and tights (with shoes). Dance shoes such as pink or black ballet slippers, jazz shoes or grippy socks are acceptable. Please no pajamas and large tutus in class. Please pull hair off of the face. Dress in layers as it can go from chilly to warm.

About the instructor

Elizabeth Piazza

Instructor

Elizabeth Piazza is a dancer, mother, student and teacher. Elizabeth earned her BA from Prescott College in Integrative Studies for Dance and Spirituality (2005). Prior to that she spent her early years training in ballet, competitive figure skating, and modern dance. Her classes create a nurturing environment for young dancers to learn the foundations of technique and self expression. Elizabeth completed her Wee Yogis certification in 2017, allowing her another avenue to empower and educate young people and families. She utilizes her unique skill set to help train, inspire and encourage people to live a life of creativity and discover their own magic.
