About the instructor

Silvia Bagnacani

Instructor / Artist

Silvia was born and raised in a small town in Northern Italy where she was surrounded by culinary farms and rolling hills. As a lifetime student of Visual Arts, she fell in love with the colors of Matisse, the compositions of Redon, the attention to detail of Maria Sybilla Merian, and the passion for flowers of Cunningham. Silvia shares a love of nature with Georgia O’Keeffe. It is these elements that inspire her when arranging nature’s works of art. When she creates a floral arrangement she starts with the greenery as the foundation. She loves to forage from nature and look for just the right shades of earthy colors to ground the arrangement. Once this base is set, then she starts adding the stars of the show. Silvia lets texture, movement, rhythm, and colors speak to her to know what comes next. She likes the arrangement to recreate the beauty and chaos of the season and surroundings they came from. Silvia finds beauty in imperfection, and prefers wild harmony over symmetry. Sometimes it’s as if the arrangements make themselves. She hopes her florals surprise you with joy and happiness for you as they do for her!
