About the class
Meet at Jack London State Historic Park to paint en plein air. In this single-session workshop, participants will learn and practice watercolor while spending time in the beautiful park above Glen Ellen. Students will choose a scene to paint and receive instruction on the basics of landscape painting, including composition, color temperature and value, linear perspective and atmospheric perspective. Gain a new appreciation for the beauty of your surroundings through close observation and careful rendering. All levels of experience are welcome! Repeat students are especially encouraged. Feel free to bring a portable easel if you already have one and a lightweight folding chair. Otherwise seating is at picnic tables and park benches or on the ground. All materials are provided. After the workshop you have the rest of the afternoon to explore the park or have a picnic.
Important note: There is a Vehicle Entry Fee of $10. After passing the kiosk veer right to the parking lot. The instructor will meet students there and then walk together to the workshop site.
