| | Gung Hay Fat ChoyWelcome the Year of the Fire Horse
Today marks the start of Lunar New Year celebrations. In the Lunar Calendar, time moves through both the circle of 12 animals and the 5 elements. It takes 60 years for an element and animal to align again, which means the last Year of the Fire Horse was 1966.
Sonoma Community Center’s Annual Free Lunar New Year Celebration will take place on Saturday, March 7. We will have AAPI Food Vendors and Makers. There will be demonstrations of traditional Chinese calligraphy and mahjong. Performances will be from RECA (Redwood Empire Chinese Association) and Hula Mai. |

Another baker from Quail & Condor is bringing her talents to the Center! Leila Clement uses her own recipes to teach students the art of cake decorating. Learn the fundamentals of fillings, frostings, crumb coating, edges, and pipework. Enjoy a tea and cake tasting after class, and each participant will take home a 4” bento cake to enjoy later! |

Moringa & Marigold, the elephants on display in front of the Center, will inspire kids to create ceramic and felted elephants of their own. Taught by Meret Piderman, kids will create ceramics that will be glazed and fired, as well as hand-sewing and embroidery. |
