Infinite Creativity at the Sonoma Community Center
Fashion Designer Cory Infinite to Give an Artist Talk and Book Signing
Sonoma, California. Missouri-based fashion designer Cory Infinite will visit Sonoma to judge the Sonoma Community Center’s sold-out Trashion Fashion Runway Show and will give an artist talk with a book signing on Monday, April 20. The artist talk will be in the Center’s Secret Garden from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It is free to attend, but RSVPs are requested.
With a following of over 800,000 across Instagram and TikTok, this young designer has already made a splash in the fashion world, creating show-stopping couture from recycled and unconventional materials. In 2025, Infinite partnered with photographer Evan Reese Johnson to self-publish a book of his designs.
In 2020, the pandemic prompted Infinite to graduate from high school early, but not before completing a fashion course that introduced him to the fundamentals of sewing. The following summer, he worked at a grocery store and made clothes on the side.
“I was pushing the carts in the parking lot, and then I’d get off work and sew a bunch of clothes,” he said. Cory Infinite was building up a small following online. “I did my first drop on social media, and there was a girl who had around fifteen million followers, and I was like, ‘Hey, would you be down if I sent you a sweater for a post and tag me in it?’”
Infinite estimates he gained 3,000 followers the day she made that post on Instagram. He went back to work, put in his two weeks, and never went back to a nine-to-five job again. The custom-textile sweaters that catapulted Infinite into the spotlight soon began to feel repetitive, prompting him to expand into designs using recycled materials found all around him.
“I really fell in love with the process of finding things some might view as trash,” Infinite added. “I get to be creative, use my imagination, and upcycle things into wearable art.”
Some of Cory Infinite’s more recognizable designs include a suit made of table utensils weighing around 55 pounds and a pair of pants made of pennies at 41 pounds. His jacket, made of recycled cans and bottles, caught the attention of Erykah Badu. She was interested in purchasing it, but the logistics of shipping that jacket would be hard.
“(Badu) said, pack up your car with all of your art, and I’ll shop from you!” Infinite and his mom drove his collection to Dallas, and she’s been seen wearing his designs on social media, and among other places, Dave Chappelle’s nightclub, YS Firehouse.
Not only has Badu been seen sporting fashions designed by Cory Infinite, but he has since collaborated with brands and musicians like Converse, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, A$AP Rocky, Yung Lean, and many others. The Cory Infinite Artist Talk & Book Signing will take place at Sonoma Community Center in the Secret Garden on Monday, April 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is free to attend, but an RSVP is needed. There will be a multi-media presentation, Q&A, book signing, and light refreshments. The book, Cory Infinite, will be available to purchase at the event or online at CoryInfinite.com.
The Sonoma Community Center Trashion Fashion Runway Show is sold out, but the community is invited to attend the free Trash Bash and Inaugural City of Sonoma Earth Day Event the following Saturday, April 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Many of the runway outfits will be on site for viewing.
