New oil painting course for older adults promotes cognitive well-being.
Sonoma, California. Sonoma Community Center is proud to present Palette & Possibility: Nurturing Mind and Spirit through Oil Painting, an inspiring new 8-week course led by acclaimed local artist Michael Bartlett. Specifically designed for older adults, this beginner-friendly class blends creativity, cognitive stimulation, and emotional wellness in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
Palette & Possibility explores the vibrant world of oil painting on Wednesdays from October 1st through November 19th, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. With a maximum of only 8 students, the class offers personalized instruction and a supportive community experience.
“This course is designed to be a truly enriching experience, providing a supportive and stimulating environment where every stroke of the brush contributes to personal growth and joy,” said Bartlett.
Through gentle, hands-on projects, students will engage with oil paint’s rich textures and forgiving nature while nurturing focus, memory, problem-solving, and a deep sense of creative fulfillment. No prior art experience is necessary – just a willingness to explore.
Michael Bartlett, a professional artist with over 50 years of experience, brings warmth, humor, and deep knowledge to his teaching. His award-winning landscapes and coastal scenes reflect a lifelong passion for fine arts and the natural world.
Due to the limited space, early registration is recommended. The course fee is $340, including materials.
