What you’ll do
Brand new to the town of Sonoma! Join Jasmine for a 6 week series in Beginning Swing & Lindy Hop! If you are brand new dancer or brand new to swing dance, this series is for you! Swing is a fun social dance that is an instantly accessible way to enjoy social dancing to swing jazz, blues and rock and roll music. Swing is a form of social partner dance that evolved from Lindy Hop in the 1940s, and is based in six-count patterns that are simplified forms of Lindy Hop patterns. Enjoy a beautiful community of swing dancers and learn how to social dance. Absolutely no experience or partner needed. Simply show up, and I will provide the dance partner, as most students come alone/single. Just bring comfy shoes to dance in and your own water.
Class is for singles and couples, alike! Everyone is welcome.
We specialize in brand new dancers! Dance with confidence, build community, and learn something new in a friendly and kind environment!

About your Instructor
Jasmine Worrell
As the premier wedding choreographer on the West Coast, Jasmine has spent the better part of a decade ushering couples through one of the most important moments of their lives: their First Dance. She’s as comfortable choreographing wedding dances to classic standards as she is to modern ballads—Frank Sinatra to Justin Bieber, Ella Fitzgerald to Taylor Swift.
Jasmine is highly specialized in traditional swing, Lindy Hop and Argentine tango—dance styles which originated during the Golden Era of the early 20th century—and is fluent in leading and following for all styles of partner dancing. She’s able to work with everyone—singles, couples, kids, and groups of any size.
A former principal dance member of Tango Con*Fusion, a professional all-female Argentine tango performance company, Jasmine was also a longtime dancer of the Busby Berkeley vintage-style dance troupe, The Decobelles. She attended the University of California at Berkeley, where she earned a BA in Geography and Education, and, later, Mills College, where she earned an MBA. She teaches private lessons, group classes, and wedding dance in San Francisco, the East Bay, Marin County, and Sonoma County.

Class FAQ
We ask that you notify us at least 10 days in advance of a class if you need to cancel your registration. You may cancel by phone or email and we will gladly offer you a refund or credit toward a future class. If you cancel with less than 10 days’ notice, we will not be able to provide refunds, due to our contractual obligations and material purchases for each class.
Sometimes, the Sonoma Community Center has to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, such as a natural disaster or health emergency. If this happens and we do not offer a reschedule date, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee (minus the payment processing and services fee), or credit towards a future class. If we are able to offer a reschedule date but you are unable to make the new date, we will gladly offer credit towards a future class.
All credits must be used within 1 year.

The Sonoma Community Center is committed to creating an accessible learning environment. If you require any special considerations(medical, physical, learning) please share them with Sean Baskin, Program Associate, by emailing him at [email protected] so that he can forward them to the relevant Program Director and Instructor.
Late additions to any program, class, or workshop that has already begun will be allowed on a per-case basis depending upon the Program Director & instructors approval. Late additions will have to pay the full registration cost of the class, along with any materials fees, and will not be prorated for the time missed. You may reach out to the program directors directly, or the Program Associate Sean Baskin at [email protected] to request a late addition.
