About the Class
Treat yourself—or someone you love—to a two-day watercolor retreat over Valentine’s Day weekend, February 13-14, 2027. Join visiting artist Rehann Vazid from Australia for an immersive, welcoming workshop focused on painting with freedom, light, and expression. Step away from the everyday and into a creative space designed to help you loosen up, take risks, and reconnect with the joy of watercolor—whether you’re just beginning or ready to push your work further.
Discover how to paint with courage and looseness. This workshop is for artists ready to move beyond hesitation and explore the expressive potential of watercolor—especially its unique ability to create luminosity and glow.
Through gestural brushwork, strong composition, and unapologetic color, you’ll learn to trust your instincts and develop a more personal, confident painting style.
Who It’s For:
Open to all levels. Beginners will build a strong foundation in watercolor basics, while more experienced painters will be encouraged to work more boldly and intuitively.

Bold Brushwork — Let go of fear and embrace confident strokes that carry energy and clarity.
The Glow of Watercolor — Explore how to harness clean pigments, transparency and timing to capture luminosity in skies and water.
Color with Courage — Experiment with limited palettes, explore warm vs. cool contrasts and push pigments to reveal vibrancy without muddiness.
Techniques for Light — Dropping color into wet washes, lifting for highlights and using granulation for texture and depth.

Rehann Vazid
Rehann Vazid is a Melbourne-based watercolour artist and educator known for his bold, light-filled landscapes and his immediate, expressive approach to the medium.
At the heart of his philosophy is a belief that painting is an act of memory-making, a counterbalance to an age where technology increasingly replaces our ability to see and think. Through his work, Rehann invites us back into presence, perception and the joy of experiencing the world directly.

Class FAQ
We ask that you notify us at least 10 days in advance of a class if you need to cancel your registration. You may cancel by phone or email and we will gladly offer you a refund or credit toward a future class. If you cancel with less than 10 days’ notice, we will not be able to provide refunds, due to our contractual obligations and material purchases for each class.
Sometimes, the Sonoma Community Center has to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, such as a natural disaster or health emergency. If this happens and we do not offer a reschedule date, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee (minus the payment processing and services fee), or credit towards a future class. If we are able to offer a reschedule date but you are unable to make the new date, we will gladly offer credit towards a future class.
All credits must be used within 1 year.

The Sonoma Community Center is committed to creating an accessible learning environment. If you require any special considerations(medical, physical, learning) please share them with Sean Baskin, Program Associate, by emailing him at [email protected] so that he can forward them to the relevant Program Director and Instructor.
Late additions to any program, class, or workshop that has already begun will be allowed on a per-case basis depending upon the Program Director & instructors approval. Late additions will have to pay the full registration cost of the class, along with any materials fees, and will not be prorated for the time missed.
