Community Butterfly Project
Migration – Resilience – Hope
As part of our Día de Muertos celebration, children and adults are invited to decorate butterflies as symbols of migration, resilience, and hope. Each butterfly can carry words of unity, community and love. Together they will form a colorful installation inside and in front of the Sonoma Community Center, honoring the presence and value of everyone in our community.
Where to pick-up your free butterfly
- September 27 – Sonoma Vintage Festival
- Look for the SCC tent, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- September 30 – Tuesday Farmers Market
- Look for the SCC tent, 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM
- October 2 – Art Walk
- Gallery 212 and the Causeway gallery, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- October 4 – Oak Hill Farms Pumpkin Day
- Look for the SCC table, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- October 11 – Pulso/Pulse: Exhibition by Adrian Arias
- Gallery 212 and the Causeway Gallery, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- October 12 – Free SCC Butterfly art “make-in” day
- 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM in Room 116
- October Fiber Arts Happy Hour Sessions
- Every Wednesday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

You can pick up your butterfly anytime at the Sonoma Community Center’s Main Office, Second floor, Room 210 Monday – Saturday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
What to do once you have your butterfly

Color it
Color your butterfly using permanent markers only (so the colors stay bright outdoors).

Add your voice
Write words on the back that matter to you (love, family, unity, hope, kindness…).

Cut it
Cut out your butterfly.
It doesn’t have to be perfect, you can leave a white edge if you want.
4
Turn it in
Turn it into the Sonoma Community Center’s main office by October 20.
