About the Camp
Your child will step into every role of the filmmaking process: actor, writer, director, and producer. Campers will experience what it truly takes to bring a story to life! This is an immersive, collaborative creative lab designed for young actors and aspiring storytellers who are ready to think bigger.
Here’s how the week unfolds:
- Monday – Acting & Character
- We begin with the foundations: truthful acting, character development, emotional stakes, and story building. Students will explore what makes performances compelling and how characters drive narrative.
- Tuesday – Story & Screenplay
- We build the script. Structure, dialogue, scene work. Students collaborate to shape and refine the short film they’ll produce by week’s end.
- Wednesday – Directing & Camera
- Students work both sides of the camera, learning framing, blocking, directing actors, and understanding visual storytelling.
- Thursday – Shoot Day
- Production in full swing. Lights, camera, action. Students rotate roles and execute the film they’ve built together.
- Friday – Editing & Screening
- Post-production and final polish, culminating in a celebratory end-of-day screening for families and friends.

Camps at the Center
Our summer camps provide hands-on learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Engaging in artistic activities allows children to express themselves in unique ways, boosting their confidence and emotional intelligence. Our experienced instructors offer a supportive and engaging space where all children can discover their passions, build lifelong friendships, and develop a sense of belonging. Not to mention, our summer camps are fun!

Optional Early Drop-Off
We are offering parents the option to drop their children off for camp at 9 AM rather than 10 AM.
You will be asked if you are interested during the registration check-out.
Early Drop-off is an additional $25 charge for the week of camps.
We will accept your payment in person on the Monday the same week as camp.
About your Instructor
Kerri Randles
Kerri Randles is an actress, writer, and director whose work is defined by emotional honesty, cinematic intelligence, and a deep commitment to the human dilemma. After living and working in Los Angeles for three decades, she settled in Sonoma to raise her family and deepen her investment in community-centered arts.
Kerri began her creative journey on stage in Chicago, studying theater and film under Steven Ivcich at the University of Illinois Chicago, and Mick Napier in the legendary improv halls of Second City and The Annoyance Theater.
Her screen career launched through collaborations with some of Hollywood’s most revered auteurs — including Oliver Stone (Heaven & Earth), William Friedkin (Jailbreakers), Clint Eastwood (Changeling), and Martha Coolidge in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, where she portrayed Marilyn Monroe.
In 2010, she wrote and performed the electrifyingly raw solo show Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’, which garnered critical acclaim in Los Angeles, New York, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2022, she made her directorial debut with the award-winning short film Midnight Girl, shot right here in Sonoma, Ca, signaling the start of a bold new chapter behind the camera.
Kerri is currently developing multiple film and television projects through her production company, Littlecommando Productions, and recently founded the Sonoma School of Drama, where she mentors teens and adults in performance rooted in craft, emotional truth, and creative risk-taking. As a local writer, teacher, and filmmaker she is committed to using Sonoma not just as a backdrop, but as a living creative ecosystem—one that supports artists, honors storytelling traditions, and expands opportunities for film, theater, and community engagement.

Class FAQ
We ask that you notify us at least 10 days in advance of a class if you need to cancel your registration. You may cancel by phone or email and we will gladly offer you a refund or credit toward a future class. If you cancel with less than 10 days’ notice, we will not be able to provide refunds, due to our contractual obligations and material purchases for each class.
Sometimes, the Sonoma Community Center has to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, such as a natural disaster or health emergency. If this happens and we do not offer a reschedule date, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee (minus the payment processing and services fee), or credit towards a future class. If we are able to offer a reschedule date but you are unable to make the new date, we will gladly offer credit towards a future class.
All credits must be used within 1 year.

The Sonoma Community Center is committed to creating an accessible learning environment. If you require any special considerations(medical, physical, learning) please share them with Sean Baskin, Program Associate, by emailing him at [email protected] so that he can forward them to the relevant Program Director and Instructor.
Late additions to any program, class, or workshop that has already begun will be allowed on a per-case basis depending upon the Program Director & instructors approval. Late additions will have to pay the full registration cost of the class, along with any materials fees, and will not be prorated for the time missed.
