October PRINT LAB – DIY Upcycled Printed Patches
About the Class
Roll up your sleeves and join us for another inky evening of PRINT LAB!
This October, we’re celebrating North Bay Zero Waste Week!
Join us for a fun and creative evening of DIY printing on old clothes, and create some handmade patches to rock on your favorite garments!
We’ll work together using silkscreens, rubber stamps and linocut blocks to decorate fabric rescued from the clothing swap to create one-of-a-kind hand-printed patches. Every patch will be uniquely sustainable and all made by hand! Guests are also welcome to bring their own linocut blocks and/or their own garments or fabric to print on or to share.
There will be ink, sewing machines, and a variety of free community designs to print with. Free fabric and garment scraps will be available too. If you’d like to carve your own design to take home, mini blocks with a tool rental will be available in our studio for $10 each.
The event is casual, and you don’t even need experience to participate. We’ll teach you how to carve and print if you haven’t done it before. Please RSVP for each guest participating to make sure we have enough materials for everyone attending. Light refreshments will be provided.
Our PRINT LAB mission is to explore an affordable and creative arts technique with our community. Print Lab is not a class, but an experience. We welcome you to print, play and experiment with us! Beginners of all artistic levels are welcome. No prior printmaking knowledge is necessary. Enrollment for Print Lab will close when we reach full capacity.
Print Lab relies on community support to help cover the cost of the activity provided. Any donations are greatly appreciated and work to support and engage the Community Center to offer this kind of affordable programming for all.
Location
North Bay zero waste week 2025
For Fall 2025, we have partnered with Zero Waste Sonoma to bring you Zero Waste month and an October packed with free/by donation events and workshops. Zero Waste Week is a grass-roots approach to raise awareness about the environmental impacts of waste and ways to live a more zero waste lifestyle. Throughout the week, groups around the North Bay Area demonstrate how they are part of the solution through public education events and activities that focus on reducing, reusing, recycling, repurposing and composting.
